Our client, a leading restaurant group on the East Coast, is seeking a full-time, direct-hire VP, eCommerce working out of their Boston, MA office (hybrid schedule). This is the opportunity to come in and build out your own team and drive revenue for a startup eCommerce division within a 70 year old company, with all of the resources and buy-in needed to make it successful.

The VP of E-Commerce is responsible for driving the company’s B2C and B2B strategy. The VP of E-Commerce develops policies and plans to execute the overall vision, strategy, and capacity needed to support organizational long-term and short- term e-commerce sales growth goals and business objectives. Evaluates and recommends e-commerce investments and initiatives and leads the development of business cases and marketing plans. Identifies opportunities for innovation and expansion of customer engagement and revenue using data and analytics to study traffic, trends, customer touchpoints, and pain points. Partners with stakeholders across the organization to optimize digital channels. Prioritizes and plans technical projects for improvements to customer experience, new e-commerce features and offerings.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Orchestrate all aspects of strategic and tactical e-commerce plans and effectively operationalize e-commerce business, driving sales and increasing conversion for all sites and channels.
  • Own all e-commerce Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) relating to traffic generation, channel management, onsite conversion, and after-sale metrics.
  • Lead cross-functional projects to drive operational excellence. Direct team and partners on how to best execute stories across digital platforms through understanding of latest interactive design techniques and consumer experience technologies. Drive the optimization of new technologies across platforms.
  • Ensure teams are actively applying customer insights and business performance data to the development of strategic and tactical objectives.
  • Drive P&L growth to achieve top-line revenue & profitability targets, through leading cross-functional e-commerce teams.
  • Collaborate with CMO and brand marketing team to present brand and product stories online in a compelling way that delivers a rich brand experience to the consumer and integrates with other brand channel messaging (wholesale, stores, brand marketing, etc.).
  • Research industry trends, seeking opportunities to bridge gaps in business objectives, pushing the business forward to drive increased revenue in e-commerce.
  • Partner with key cross-functional teams to ensure all relevant organizational goals and implications are factored into e-commerce projects.
  • Work with marketing and social media teams to activate campaigns and drive e-commerce revenue.
  • Recommend and execute compelling marketing, promotions, and offerings to drive customer acquisition and engagement.
  • Manage the user experience of the website including site navigation, content development, checkout funnel, and promotional campaigns.
  • Identify new areas of Ecommerce opportunity beyond current organizational thinking.
  • Lead core e-commerce team tasked with combining brand and e-commerce expertise to deliver high quality products to consumers timely. Core team includes strategy & analytics, product management, digital operations & GTM.
  • Manages digital operations to ensure on-hand inventory and alignment of plans to hit profitability targets.
  • Develop plans and forecasts along with supporting marketing budgets.
  • Stay current on industry best practices, assessing and communicating their potential impact on the business.
  • Provide ongoing and ad hoc analysis of business performance along with resulting recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Deliver annual team resource, expense, and performance plans in support of e-commerce goals and objectives.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills to drive effective collaboration, and persuasively present insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Proven ability to influence, partner and develop productive relationships with all levels of the company.
  • Experience in leading e-commerce management, digital merchandising, strategy/analytics, and digital ops, Compeat a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.
  • Subject matter expert in emerging Ecommerce tools and technologies.
  • Experience leading onsite optimization and platform strategies and roadmaps.
  • Solid project management skills with ability to prioritize and manage trade-offs for delivery of existing projects while concurrently planning future projects.
  • Adaptable with an ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • P&L ownership experience; able to manage the art and science of this role – need to know product margins, incentives, levers to pull to drive the business, and complete understanding of how a site runs, technology, platforms, etc.
  • A strong track record showing a bias for action and a “can-do” attitude.
  • Naturally curious and a lifelong learner about customer trends and digital technology, with a test and learn mentality and an agile way of working to improve product(s).
