We’re seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial-minded Director of Marketplace to drive the creation and growth of our own dedicated marketplace for Christian apparel. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building successful online marketplaces, possess a deep understanding of eCommerce, and demonstrate a strong understanding of our Christian values and mission. This role is pivotal in expanding our reach, diversifying our product offerings, and enhancing the customer experience within a faith-based community.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

1. Marketplace Strategy and Development:

  • Develop a comprehensive marketplace strategy aligned with our mission and goals.
  • Identify and evaluate potential marketplace platforms or build a custom platform tailored to our unique needs.
  • Conduct market research to understand customer preferences, trends, and competitive landscape in the faith-based apparel / product market.
  • Define marketplace policies, guidelines, and standards to ensure a high-quality and curated selection of Christian products.

2. Vendor Acquisition and Management:

  • Identify and onboard reputable vendors and sellers offering Christian products that align with our brand values.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, negotiating favorable terms, and ensuring compliance with marketplace policies.
  • Establish clear communication channels and provide ongoing support to vendors, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues.

3. Marketplace Operations and Performance:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the marketplace, ensuring optimal functionality, user experience, and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and analyze marketplace performance metrics, such as sales, conversion rates, and customer feedback.
  • Implement marketing and promotional strategies to attract buyers and drive traffic to the marketplace.
  • Continuously explore opportunities to enhance the marketplace’s features, functionality, and offerings.

4. Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in all marketplace activities.
  • Establish and enforce policies to mitigate fraud, counterfeit products, and other risks associated with marketplace operations.
  • Stay updated on emerging marketplace trends, best practices, and industry developments.

5. Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Lead and inspire a cross-functional team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, customer service, and IT teams to align marketplace initiatives with overall company objectives.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building and managing online marketplaces, preferably within the eCommerce industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and scaling marketplaces, driving revenue growth, and enhancing the user experience.
  • Deep understanding of eCommerce, online marketplaces, and digital marketing strategies.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with vendors and
  • sellers.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
